Anomalisa Full Review Transcript:

Charlie Kaufman always makes oddball movies right from being John Malkovich right through to Synechdoche, New York but his new movie Anomalisa is a stop motion animation which is new territory for him he's made it with a director called Duke Johnson who's a specialist in that genre it's about a character voiced by David Thewlis he's a motivational speaker he has one night at a hotel in Cincinnati before delivering a speech on customer care the next day you soon realise that there's this one voice David Thewlis this main character but everybody else sounds the same and looks the same all the puppets have the same faces whether they're men or women and they have the same voice voiced by an actor called Tom Noonan it's all a bit disorientating you realize that maybe he's suffering from some kind of condition or is it just that he has a struggle to connect with people eventually he meets a woman played by Jennifer Jason Leigh different face and Jennifer jason leigh's voice and you realise they've found a connection it is about how people struggle to find connections in the real world it's romantic in places it's realistic in places which sounds odd considering it's got puppets it's funny and above all it is utterly utterly unique.
