Would you stand in front of a giant pendulum swinging straight at you?
One Norwegian scientist did exactly that — not for a stunt, but to prove a fundamental law of physics: the Law of Conservation of Energy.

In this jaw-dropping experiment, he stood motionless as a massive demolition pendulum was released from just inches away. If it had swung even slightly further forward, it could’ve broken his ribs or worse.
But it didn’t. Why?

According to the conservation of mechanical energy, a pendulum released from a certain height will never swing higher than its release point — unless extra energy is added from an external source. Since no extra energy was introduced, the pendulum safely returned to its original height, stopping right before him. That’s physics in action!

⚠️ Warning: Do NOT try this experiment at home or with friends. Physics only works when you follow the rules — and this one leaves no room for error!

🧪 In this short you’ll learn:

What is the conservation of energy?

How pendulums demonstrate physics principles

Why the pendulum didn’t go beyond its starting point

Real-world applications of energy conservation
