Just received a Discord Nitro gift but can’t figure out how to claim it—especially if it came as a code instead of a direct link inside Discord? The redemption method changes completely depending on how you received the gift, and one wrong move could leave you staring at an “invalid code” error. This video breaks down both scenarios so you can claim your Nitro without losing it.
You’ll see that if a friend sends the gift directly in a DM or server, you simply locate the gift message and tap the “claim” button, then confirm you’re logged into the correct account before accepting. But if you received a redemption code from an email, physical card, or external source, you cannot redeem it inside the Discord mobile app—you must use a desktop browser. The video demonstrates how to open your browser, log into Discord, go to User Settings → Gift Inventory, and enter the code there. The catch: many users accidentally try to redeem codes on mobile, get frustrated, and let the gift expire, because codes do have a limited lifespan.
So what happens if you accidentally claim the gift on the wrong Discord account, and can you move Nitro to another account after redemption? Watch until the end to see the full desktop redemption flow and the one confirmation screen that people click through too fast, missing the chance to choose between Nitro Basic and full Nitro.
