To replace the batteries in your EJ500 Wall Timer, you’ll need a flat blade screwdriver and two LR44, SR44 or an equivalent non-rechargeable replacement batteries, such as the L1154 or 357.

First, use the flat blade to pop open the door of the timer. The battery cube is right below the programmable buttons. Use the flat head to pop out the battery cube. Press a pen or the tip of the screwdriver into the two holes on the side of the cube to pop out the old batteries.

When the cube is empty, face the holes towards you with the prongs/open end up cube facing up. There is a small diagram inside the cube that indicates how to position the batteries. Place the batteries so the writing side of them faces toward the left prong. Both batteries should face the same direction. Since the batteries expand when they expire, squeeze in on the tabs of the cube to make sure they are making a good connection. Put the cube back in the timer with the notch of the cube facing down. Push on the cube until it is all the way in. You will hear it click into place.
And you’re done!
