Why I Disagree With Roman Catholicism & Eastern Orthodoxy
In this video, I explain why I am not convinced by key teachings within the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church, and why I believe Scripture teaches a different understanding of the gospel.
My concern is not with individuals who identify as Catholic or Orthodox, but with certain doctrinal systems that I believe add requirements to justification that go beyond faith in Christ alone.
🧠 Why This Matters
The question at the center of this discussion is: How is a person made right with God?
I argue that the consistent teaching of the Bible is that justification is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ apart from works of the law.

• Galatians 1:6–9 — warning against another gospel
• Romans 3:28 — justified by faith apart from works
• Ephesians 2:8–9 — salvation by grace through faith
• Galatians 5:4 — falling from grace when righteousness is sought by law
✝️ My Position
I explain why I believe the gospel must remain centered on Christ alone as the basis of salvation, and why any system that adds to that risks obscuring the simplicity of the gospel message.
At the same time, I also acknowledge that many individuals within these traditions are sincere seekers of Christ, and that only God ultimately knows the state of each person’s heart.
