EXPLORING A HAUNTED DUTCH-ERA CEMETERY AT NIGHT (Supposedly)
Exploring the Old Dutch Cemetery at Night.
🔴What's important to note in this video is that I said "Mausoleum"...the correct one is "Tombe" (a tomb with a crypt), because I always remember "Mausoleum," so I forgot it was "Tombe."
This Old Dutch Cemetery is intermingled with the burials of indigenous Christians. Why is this? Because the indigenous people buried here are descendants of Cornelis Chastelein's slaves. But there are also older graves, those of Dutch people who lived during the colonial era.
In my exploration, I briefly shared the background of these two Dutch people.
This Dutch Cemetery complex also has a dark history, dating back to when Indonesia entered the "Preparation" period.
This was the transitional period for the Indonesian nation, starting with the reading of the proclamation of Indonesian independence by President Sukarno.
Because this Dutch Cemetery contains a strong historical element and is so ancient, this Old Cemetery has also been officially designated as a cultural heritage area.
