Arthur Prysock was an American jazz singer best known for his live shows and his deep soulful baritone voice. He has often been characterized as a deep-voiced Billy Eckstine, and his singing style was very similar. He joined bandleader Buddy Johnson as a vocalist in 1944 and became a mainstay of the live performance circuits. He sang on several of Johnson's hits including "Jet My Love", "I Wonder Where Our Love Has Gone", and "Because". He gained much attention for his tender, soulful singing on a beer commercial, "Tonight, tonight, let it be Löwenbräu." He had a surprise disco hit with "When Love Is New" in 1977, and much of his older recordings regained attention. He received a Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation in 1995. This selection is from his 1965 album "Arthur Prysock And Count Basie".
