In this video I show a practical step to make enemies feel the player by touch and change their alertness depending on whether the player is standing or crouching.
Everything is implemented with Blueprints only — from enabling AIPerception (Touch) to the alert/calm logic.
Welcome back to the Stealth Gameplay Systems series!
In this episode we add a realistic new layer to enemy behavior: AI Touch Sense and a back-awareness alert system that changes how cautious enemies are depending on the player’s posture.
What you’ll learn in this video
How to enable AIPerception — Touch in Unreal Engine 5.
How to make the AI detect the player on contact and trigger appropriate reactions.
How to implement Back-Awareness so the AI becomes more alert if the player is standing behind it, and less suspicious when the player is crouching.
How to link alertness level to AI behavior (chase, investigate, or return to patrol).
All examples are done with Blueprints only — no coding required.
