SERMON ON PHILEMON
The book of Philemon is a letter in the New Testament of the Bible, written by the apostle Paul. It is addressed to Philemon, a wealthy Christian living in Colossae, and concerns the topic of slavery and forgiveness. The letter begins with Paul introducing himself and giving thanks for Philemon's faith. He then writes about Philemon's slave, Onesimus, who had run away and come into contact with Paul. While with Paul, Onesimus had become a Christian and had been of great assistance to Paul.
Paul then makes a plea to Philemon to receive Onesimus back as a brother in Christ, rather than as a slave. He also offers to pay any debts Onesimus may have incurred while he was away. The letter concludes with greetings from Paul and his companions.
