How does Apple Watch know your heart rate?
I talk about how an Apple Watch uses green light from an LED to determine the relative concentrations of red blood cells present in the papillary dermis layer over time. The rate that green light absorbance changes over time is proportional to your heart rate. The Apple Watch also uses detectors to determine how much green light is reflected back from your papillary dermis to calculate green light absorbance.
