The five types that carry every database call in Java, and the one habit that decides whether your app is on the news. Three sentences this unit exists for: swap the driver and your code does not change, the question mark is parsed before your value exists, and a timestamp column is a wall clock rather than a moment. All three are run, not described — including the injection, against a table this program creates and drops itself.

Core Java II — Under the Hood · Section 8: JDBC + SQL · Unit 35 of 44

In this unit:
• Connection, Statement, PreparedStatement, ResultSet, DataSource (diagram)
• Open a connection twice — and swap the driver without touching your code
• Rows into records, one row at a time
• The injection, run for real: the whole table comes back, then the parameter stops it
• The clock that moved: a timestamp column off by five and a half hours

Every unit ships its own folder with the sources and a README of the exact commands, so you can reproduce every terminal capture in this video yourself.

Chapters:

00:21 The Four Layers
01:13 Opening A Connection, Twice
01:58 Rows Into Records

About this course: Core Java II — Under the Hood is the sequel to Java Fundamentals. Course 1 taught you to write TiffinBox; Course 2 opens the box and shows what the machine does with your code. 44 units across 9 sections — JVM memory and GC, generics, threads and virtual threads, values and contracts, I/O and networking, modules and packaging, SQL and JDBC, reflection and the capstone server. Every claim on screen is a real terminal capture from JDK 25, run several times, and every unit breaks something on purpose so you have seen the failure before it happens to you.

🎙️ Note: This unit is narrated by an AI voice model trained on my own voice.
