International Mother Language Day
There are over 7,000 languages are currently spoken globally. From Arapaho to Zinza, our world is full of beautiful linguistic diversity. Today, we’re celebrating Mother Language Day with our colleague, Qiaona. Like many of us, Qiaona uses a second language at work – in fact, she moved from her home in China to work with us in the Netherlands. A Mandarin speaker, Qiaona uses English at work, but also encounters a lot of Dutch in daily life. She explains how working in a second language can be challenging, but it also brings great opportunities to share your own culture with your colleagues – which benefits everyone.
