Buying a used guitar on eBay can be risky, and in this video I share my experience of getting burned on a purchase that wasn’t as described.
I picked up a 2003 Fender Showmaster that was listed as “Good Condition,” but when it arrived, there were undisclosed wood chips, binding issues, and electronics that didn’t even work out of the box. To be fair, the repairs only cost about $60 plus a cost of a setup, but the problem wasn’t the money, it was that the guitar simply wasn’t what was advertised.
In this video:
Why “Good Condition” didn’t match reality
The hidden damage + electrical problems I found
Why disclosure matters, even if the fixes seem minor
What buyers (especially beginners) should watch out for when shopping used guitars online
Not every eBay seller is shady, but this experience shows the risks and why being upfront about condition is so important.
