DEMO CODE
The code used in this talk on creating a multiplayer online game in PHP is available at https://bitbucket.org/RickMeasham/php....
TALK DESCRIPTION
In this talk, we will introduce WebSockets as a means for real-time bi-directional communication between a web browser and a server. Then using the Ratchet library, we'll see how a simple Massively Multiplayer Online Game can be assembled. Minutes later, we'll all play the game using our smartphones.
This talk isn't low-level socket theory, though it is technical. But the basics are simple and anyone with an understanding of PHP can easily follow along.
