An event-driven backend microservice used by Myntra, India's largest fashion e-commerce retailer. The talk covers the decisions to move from NodeJS to Golang, design choices and learnings during development, and the journey to production supporting more than 22 million active users.

This talk, on an event-driven system using Kafka and MongoDB in Golang, is based on the speaker’s experience working with Golang as a developer at Myntra. The speaker dives into the details of designing and scaling event-driven systems serving millions of users in the Indian fashion e-commerce industry.

The talk is further divided into 5 sections which will be split over the two 20 minute intervals for the talk.

Session 1 - History and Design Decisions
The first half of the talk touches on the history of the microservice (in NodeJS) and dives into its journey to Golang. This will include a discussion on the advantages provided by Golang, such as raw performance, computation, and concurrency. This half will also cover design decisions taken during the re-architecture to Golang.

Session 2 - Development, Deployment to Production, and Results at scale
The second half covers development choices. The speaker will then elaborate on the journey of deploying a Golang microservice from local to production and the challenges faced along the way. The talk concludes by highlighting the role Golang has played in achieving scale for a distributed system in live production and the payoffs due to the design choices.
