Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a commercial sequel to the unconventional adventure game Octodad, created by a group of DePaul University students as part of a university project. The sequel was developed by the independent studio Young Horses, founded by the creators of the original, led by Kevin Zuhn and Chris Stallman. Unlike the original, which was released exclusively on PC, the sequel also arrived, with some delay, on a number of other hardware platforms, including consoles and mobile devices. The title also offers extensive social features.
The game's plot continues the storyline begun in Octodad. The titular character continues to carefully conceal the fact that he is an octopus from his family. Unfortunately, his suspicious wife insists on a trip to the aquarium to test her husband's reaction to encountering creatures like him. The risk of exposure increases with each passing moment, and the player's role is to guide the protagonist's actions so that the truth about his nature is not revealed.
