The energy of Eros is one of the fundamental energies of the human being, but within our civilization, it has become devalued and despiritualized. As a result, the forms in which Eros penetrates our lives are often perverted, and people develop psychological problems.
Gender psychic issues. Distortions in self-perception.
The female problem is that women are a kind of "sub-man." Their bodies are vessels of sin, dirty and vicious. Eroticism, which formally celebrates the beauty of the female body, views the female body as an object of possession; its form is important, but not its content. Menstruation is perceived as something shameful, impure, and women lose their sense of value in their ability to give life.
The male problem: men view themselves as hunters, women as prey, and their penises as weapons. A loss of masculine self-worth. Male genitalia appear exalted, but in reality, they are devalued and despiritualized. Men lose the ability to establish a deep, spiritual connection with women. Eroticism is reduced to aggression. Problems with male sexuality stem from the expectation of infallibility and eternal readiness.
The devaluation of Eros leads to absolute ignorance of this energy. Research is considered inappropriate; those who explore are perverts (and often are); knowledge is limited to a set of positions and techniques. We are ignorant of the spiritual component.
This leads to problems. The root of one problem lies in the multiple levels of Eros as the energy of creation.
Eros at one level is the birth of a child, but there are other levels as well. For example, colleagues working on a joint project may confuse the joy of creation with love and sexual attraction, which can lead to infidelity in marriage, general frustration, and the possibility that the project will never be completed.
A similar situation can arise in training and development (mentoring). Mentor and student, therapist and client, priest and believer. The greatest harm is done to the weaker partner. Energy dedicated to development is spent on the relationship, interrupting the process of spiritual growth.
Furthermore, during moments of spiritual breakthroughs, connecting with oneself is a feeling similar to falling in love, which can be projected onto an incompatible person, thus complicating one's life.
