EROSION PREVIEW (HANDS ON AT SUMMER GAME FEST 2026)
In this Erosion preview, we went hands on with the upcoming open world, dungeon crawling, ARPG, roguelike Erosion (Yes it's all of those things) and spoke with the Game Director at Summer Game Fest and asked him about their follow up to The Last Case of Benedict Fox. Before that I break down why Erosion feels like a breath of fresh air in the roguelike genre.
Finally! A ROGUELIKE with NEW IDEAS | EROSION
More than the refreshing isometric voxel western aesthetic, Erosion is also attempting something very unique with its time loop mechanic. Every time you die, time fast forwards a decade and the consequences to the timeline can be drastic as you try to rescue your daughter before it’s too late.
Are there too many roguelikes these days? The answer is yes and the data backs it up. In 2026, there has already been over 1000 games released on Steam with the roguelike tag. However, I strongly believe that no matter how crowded a market is, there is always room for more with caveat that it’s doing something original, but the problem is that 99% of these releases aren’t attempting anything new or innovative.
We got the chance to play Erosion at Summer Game Fest 2026 and interview the Game Director to learn more about their follow up to The Last Case of Benedict Fox
