Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion (2012): The forgotten version of macOS?
Compared to other versions of Mac OS X from the time, and just the OS in general (minus its earlier versions), Mac OS X 10.8 is not the most memorable version for many, or at least it seems (I can't be 100% sure). Released in 2012, it was arguably had the most skeuomorphic UI of any version of the OS, and started a precedent proper with a new version of macOS being released annually, at least taking into account that Mac OS X 10.7 Lion was released the year prior in 2011.
Intended to refine what was added to the OS in 10.7 Lion, Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion was similar in that sense to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Unlike in the latter, though, Mac OS X 10.8 added features. New applications were added with a lot of skeuomorphic UIs, such as Notes, Reminders, and the Game Centre, and new features such as the Notification Centre got implemented in this version. Bringing a lot to the table to make it a true Mac equivalent to iOS, it was the final paid upgrade of the OS and became the best selling version of the OS to date. It was discontinued in 2015.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this video. It was not the most mentally enticing video to make, and so going forward my plans will depend on what I am interested in near the end of the current video I am working on.
