DOOM inside a CELL
Can you imagine playing Doom inside a bacterium? Yes, inside an E. coli! This amazing feat was made possible by MIT biotechnology PhD student Lauren Ramlan. A group of bioengineers transformed each E. coli cell into a living pixel, using advanced synthetic biology techniques to genetically modify the bacteria. These cells express proteins that react to light, allowing them to display visual information like a miniature game of Doom.
