In this Shopify Tutorial, Nick provides a step by step instructions on how to enable Address Verification System (AVS) and Card Verification Value (CVV) in Shopify Payments, which are the essential filters that help prevent chargebacks.

AVS verification checks the partial address and zip code/postal codes that are inputted in the Billing address section order page with the address that is associated with the credit card issuer/bank. In the event, that the billing address is significantly different from Credit Card associated address, the fraud prevention mechanism will stop the order payment from processing. It is generally, a good idea to keep the AVS enabled.

Also, the CVV will check that the 3-digit (VISA or Master card) or 4-digit (American Express) number that is printed on the back of the credit card exactly matches the one inputted in the order. CVV checks ensure that the credit card holder has physical possession of the credit.
