Pickpocketing Epidemic in Rome Italy- Our Unfortunate Story.
Please share this video to help get the word out about the growing problem of pickpocketing in Rome. Over 1000 wallets, purses and suitcases are being stolen in Rome on a busy day and not much is being dome to stop it. Learn about our story and how you can be protected from this happening to you the next time you are in Rome. Rome is an incredible city but you need to know before you go.
Replacing passport took about 3 hours and cost 120 euro. US Embassy is open Monday through Friday starting at 8:30am. Get there early the line builds fast. A few additional tips. If driving a car do not leave bags or anything in the car or you may find your windows smashed and what was in the car gone. Also when eating it is a good idea to put you foot through your bag or pack handles when placing on the ground so nobody can grab it. Also if you foot is in the handle you will not forget it under the table. Do not put your bag on an empty chair when in high traffic tourist areas or someone may grab it and run. Also online I read that the first step is to report the crime to the police. I found this not possible. The police would not file a report unless I had a passport which made no sense to me since my passport was stollen. Well the good news is the US embassy is well staffed to help you and they process lots of stolen passports everyday.
