For #AsianHertiageMonth, two-time Concordia grad Donny Seto, BA 04, MA 08, lecturer at Concordia's Department of Geography, Planning and Environment, talks about his work around Montreal's Chinatown.
In 2018, Seto joined a group of concerned citizens who wanted to protect and reinforce Montreal's Chinatown. They formed the Chinatown Working Group, the launching pad for the Jia Foundation.
The Jia Foundation aims to promote the inclusive place-keeping and placemaking of Chinatown as well as the conservation of both its tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
The Jia Foundation has ties to Concordia via the Next-Generation Cities Institute, where an interdisciplinary team collaborates on a number of projects with an equitable and community-driven approach toward issues of heritage, housing, cultural spaces, green space and redevelopment.
