In this fourth lab, we will learn how to deploy a working DHCP server in a simulated local network using GNS3.
The goal is to understand how IP addresses can be automatically assigned to machines on a network, without manual configuration.
You will create a topology consisting of a Windows Server 2025 server, a switch, and three virtual PCs running Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11. After configuring the DHCP server, you will define the 172.16.20.0/28 network, the address range to distribute, exclusions, the default gateway, and the DNS server.
Each virtual machine will automatically receive its IP address via DHCP, and you will validate the network's functionality by performing connectivity tests using the ping command.
This lab is ideal for beginners and networking students who want to understand how DHCP works in a practical, multi-system context.
