Send APRS Position Off Grid with JS8Call | OH8STN Ham Radio
Hello Operators.
Todays video is an introduction to APRS on HF using JS8Call, and JS8Call Utilities. There are times operating off grid with Ham Radio & emergency communications, where we would like to use an aprs beacon to send out our current coordinates, to team members, group members, or emergency management crews. We atrempt to do this using the Automatic Packet Reporting System or APRS on VHF. Unfortunately, there are times when we operate beyond the range of a VHF Igate, or digipeater. For scenarios like this, we augment APRS ham radio system on VHF, with HF APRS using a HF radio, for far greater range.
