DIY Russian stove - repair and restoration
I always try to write detailed descriptions under my videos... I often answer the most pressing questions here, explaining points that weren't included in the video. And then I realize that almost no one reads them. Only a few do.
And so—for you, my few. My smartest, most curious, most attentive, those who already feel and know me. Those who still can't stop reading my long descriptions. This is for you.
❤️ MY NEW EXPERIENCE
I gained an experience that was honestly... both difficult and important at the same time. Now I know:
– what a stove is, – what it's made of, – how to fix it, – why it's always capricious, – and why a stove isn't a "set it and forget it" kind of thing.
A stove is constant: debris, soot, chimneys, passages, ash, plastering over and over again. A stove is a big responsibility.
But on the other hand... A stove is warmth. It's the heart of the home. This is what makes breakfast, dinner, pies, pancakes—all those cozy things that make a house a home.
I haven't baked anything yet, but I'm already looking for recipes 😅 I've gone through the entire restoration process. And now, for it to be worth it, I need to experience all the benefits of taking the trouble to bring the stove back to life.
In my little green house, I tore down the stove—and I'm not sure that was a mistake. Maybe I should also line it with some special brick to keep it warm longer. If anyone knows of such options, let me know; I'm genuinely interested.
But here, in my temporary house, I decided to leave everything as is. The owners love this stove, so it's here to stay. And even though it was all greased, crooked, and old, I didn't restore it alone, of course, since fire still needs to be trained. And you know what... I'm happy with the experience. Now I know: - how to clean the passages, - where to look for ash, - that ash should never be poured into the garden, - how to build a stove, - how it's designed inside, - what to coat it with and how many times, - how to make a stove look beautiful, like on Pinterest.
It's not an easy experience. Repeating it again—well, not anytime soon, that's for sure 😅 But if I ever have to, I already have the foundation.
And I really hope that after watching the video, you'll understand all this work. And one day, I'll be able to show you the stove, cozy and warm, and fry my first pancakes. And I also promise: I'll try to cook something on it for New Year's and show you a beautiful table 💛
