In this video, we’re diving into the exciting new feature in Microsoft Planner that lets you upgrade Basic Plans to Premium Plans seamlessly. This long-awaited update is here to transform the way you manage tasks and projects, giving you access to powerful features like task analytics, custom fields, and enhanced collaboration tools.
Whether you’re new to Microsoft Planner or a seasoned user, this video will guide you step-by-step through the process of upgrading, highlight important considerations, and even show you how to downgrade if needed.
Please note that upgrading your Plan is done at your own risk and should you have concerns, please raise them to Microsoft Support before upgrading your Plan, not forgetting these important points from our own testing:
Downgrading Your Plan can lead to Data Loss, as we mentioned in this video, the existing Plan is not updated with changes from the Plan which was upgraded and updated.
Existing Power Automate Flows on your Plan would be impacted, as Planner Premium uses a different set of API's, so if you have existing Flows, then upgrading is not a good idea.
Upgrading Plans does not always go smoothly, there are reasons why a Plan cannot be upgraded, such as recurring tasks. We cover this in this tutorial, and I do wish there was an 'Upgrade Checker' to check before you convert the Plan, but sadly that doesn't exist today.
