The Chinese invasion of Damansky began on the night of March 2, 1969, when a group of Chinese soldiers entered Damansky and set up an ambush. The presence of an armed detachment of 30 people on Soviet positions was first reported between 10 and 11 a.m. The Soviet border guards intended to split into three roughly equal groups, surround the violators and demand that they immediately leave the territory of the USSR. But as soon as they approached, the groups were subjected to automatic and machine gun fire from the Chinese military. Real combat had begun, and it was no longer a "paper war in which no one died." More than 400 people died on both sides in this two-week military conflict, most of them on the Chinese side. The courage, fortitude and bravery of the Soviet military prevented a full-scale war with China, but by 1991 Damansky was already part of China. The Russian-Chinese conflict should serve as a lesson for our leaders in the future, because the war between the USSR and China in 1969 for Damansky Island almost led to a nuclear war. Why did this conflict break out? What consequences did it entail? And why is China our main geopolitical enemy? Will China attack Russia and seize the Far East? How did border guards prevent and not allow the Soviet-Chinese war to begin? Why is deforestation and leasing of Far Eastern land an economic expansion by China? #china #russia #damansky
