15 Simple Steps to Rename Multiple Files using Automator on your mac:
1. Launch Automator (it comes with every mac)
2. Choose Workflow (as your type of document)
3. From the menu, choose Ask for Finder Items.
4. Choose the folder in which the files you want to rename exist.
5. Allow multiple selection (if you want to rename more than one file)
6. Again, from the menu, choose Rename Finder Items.
7. Drag and drop Rename Finder Items if you didn't double click it.
8. Click Don't Add.
9. From the dropdown menu, select Make Sequential.
10. Choose a new name for your files.
11. Make all numbers 2, or 3 as desired. Ex. New File Name_01, New File Name_02...etc.
12. Play work flow on the Top Right corner.
13. Choose all files you want to rename in your folder by clicking the first file + Shift + the last file.
14. Click Choose.
15. Voilà! you're all set.
