Hong Kong is a city seemingly designed for "film noir." The humid, winding streets, the towering skyscrapers, the shanty towns crammed into dark corners, and the endless alleys combine to create a mysterious mood which effected writers and filmmakers alike. There are millions of stories in the jade city and this is one of them. Ivy Ling Po, star of Temple Of The Red Lotus, here plays a jealous, murderous movie star, who, like seemingly all film noir vixens, wants to kill off her husband. While she's infuriated that the hitman she hires bungles the job, she's delighted that her husband is found guilty for the killer's "murder." There's only one thing between him and execution: his wife's loving and plucky female screenwriter -- played by the great Chiao Chiao, co-star of both the One-Armed Swordsman films and Jackie Chan's Police Story II.
