Discovering the history of Balvaird Castle | Historic Scotland
Balvaird Castle is a particularly fine and complete example of a traditional late medieval Scottish tower house and was built as a home for Sir Andrew Murray and his new wife, Margaret Barclay. They both lived in the castle for the entirety of their lives.
I visited the castle to show you what it's like today, and to give you some of the history of the building from it's construction around 1495 through to today.
