Kamala Harris is attempting to bolster her credentials among gun owners in the run up to the 2024 US election, and the right to arm is a contested topic at this year's Texas State Fair.
The State Fair of Texas describes itself as the “most Texan place on earth”, offering everything from rodeos to pig races and butter sculptures.
But beyond the jubilance, after a shooting at last year’s fair injured three people and sent others fleeing over barriers to escape, firearms were banned from 2024’s event, triggering a high profile legal battle which went all the way to the state’s Supreme Court, as Texas’s Attorney General Ken Paxton unsuccessfully attempted to overturn the ban.
