Duke was rescued by one of our Cruelty Investigators after someone reported a dog living in an apartment that was skin and bones. Thanks to Precinct 1, we were able to bring him safely into our care.
Our veterinary team conducted a thorough examination, uncovering a firm, hard substance in his abdomen. Duke was rushed into emergency surgery, where our team extracted wired cables from his stomach. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the issue, Duke succumbed to his injuries. In his final days, Duke found solace in the care of our veterinary staff, who cherished him deeply, working tirelessly to grant him the second chance he rightfully deserved.
Duke's story highlights the heartbreaking reality faced by many animals. Despite our determined efforts, sometimes we are too late. That's why we need your help to stand up for animals that cannot defend themselves. It is imperative that if you see an animal being subjected to animal cruelty, you report it immediately.
