How to Tan a Hide with Eggs & Mayo

Here are a couple tips on getting started tanning your own hides:
Remove the hide from the animal as soon as possible.
Salt or freeze the hide right away (If you freeze the hide you will have to salt if after removing it from the freezer).
Allow your hide to fully dry out when salting, this may require more amounts of salt to complete.
After your hide is completely dried out it’s time to rehydrate and flesh it.
There are a couple methods I use in fleshing hides: One is using a power washer with a turbo tip (I only use this method on large game, do not try this on small hides!!) the second method is on a fleshing beam with a fleshing knife.
Now that your hide is all clean you can either tan it right away using the brain tan method or you can throw it into a pickle to use a chemical tan.
If brains are not your thing have no worries. You can achieve the same results using eggs and mayonnaise.
