You know Wuwa as the kids are calling it has been out for a hot second now with no shortage of issues. I wasn't really planning to play it myself. I just really hoped it would provide much needed competition for Mihoyo to get them to get their act together. But after the debut fiasco I wondered just how bad it could be. I watched people's videos and then I knew. The story is a little too expositional and the voice acting in the English dub is just not consistent. But the reason is very clear. Kuro decided to use a British VA agency for their voices but for some reason they wanted them to use American accents and suffice it to say not many can pull off an American accent. You also have subtitle spacing issues, wrong subtitles, dialogue that's not consistent between the original Chinese and the dub so you end up with the Rover bringing up Tacet Discords before they actually learn what those are (Chixia says "elite" in English but she says Tacet Discords in Chinese so that's why the Rover brought it up later but it doesn't make sense unless you have Chixia actually say Tacet Discord) and just far too many unique terms to keep up with lol (especially when you overload sentences with Chinese words and have your VAs try pronouncing all that while faking a foreign accent)
But besides the acting and story I didn't find anything else off except that it looked like people had trouble with the battle system's difficulty. At least I thought it was the difficulty. TenTen and the other hardcore gamers kept saying how good it was. Anyway around then I found out that Yinlin's banner was pushed earlier because Kuro did a dumb and set her banner release to the device's calendar meaning you could just set your date to her release and her banner would be up for grabs lol. Actually Kuro bumped it up to the 6th but I actually started my game on the 5th and her banner was already up even back then. Also it said to access the banner I needed to be Union Rank 8 or something and I had to beat part of the main story. I didn't. As soon as I got the Convene menu unlocked I was able to access all the banners including hers. I also didn't need to be Union Rank 8 to access her story but you do need to finish Act 3 of the main story because that's when these Companion Quests unlock.
Anyway I decided to check this game out and see all the good and all the bad. And wow do I have stuff to say lol
