Paul Kalkbrenner rocks Piazza Grande in Locarno.
The new film by Hannes Stöhr "Berlin Calling" with Paul Kalkbrenner in the leading role had on the 8 of August its world debut on the Piazza Grande in the context of the Locarno Film Festival 2008.
"The films shown independant of the competition for the Golden Leopard, the two German productions "Berlin Calling" and "Nordwand" gave the strongest impressions. Both films are regarded as the most promising candidate for the eligible audience price and the first time ,allocated by the professional U.S. - american film journal "Variety", price of honor for the best film on the Piazza. Director Hannes Stöhr describes in "Berlin Calling" the highs and lows of a DJ burned out emotionally. Paul Kalkbrenner gives convincingly his debut as an actor in the leading role. Kalkbrenner, well known as a DJ in the real scene of international clubs, wrote the music for the movie. After the with huge approval and bravo reputations considered performance of the film he invited spontaneously the audience on the Piazza Grande for a music session and got thousands to dance and swing."

Der Film "Berlin Calling" hatte am 08. August seine Weltpremiere auf der Piazza Grande im Rahmen des Locarno Film Festivals 2008.
"Von den außerhalb des Wettbewerbs um den Goldenen Leoparden gezeigten Filmen haben die zwei deutschen Produktionen "Berlin Calling" und "Nordwand" den stärksten Eindruck hinterlassen. Beide Filme gelten zurzeit als aussichtsreichster Anwärter auf den begehrten Publikumspreis und die erstmals von der US-amerikanischen Filmfachzeitschrift "Variety" vergebene Ehrung des besten Piazza-Films. In "Berlin Calling" schildert Regisseur Hannes Stöhr die Hochs und Tiefs eines psychisch ausgebrannten DJ. In der Hauptrolle gibt Paul Kalkbrenner überzeugend sein Debüt als Schauspieler. Kalkbrenner, tatsächlich als DJ in der internationalen Club- Szene bekannt, schrieb auch die Musik zum Film. Nach der mit viel Beifall und Bravo Rufen bedachten Aufführung des Films lud er das Publikum auf der Piazza Grande spontan zu einer Musik- Session und brachte Tausende zum Tanzen und Swingen.
