How to set up a WiFi extender in mesh mode
If you can, you should set up your WiFi extender in mesh mode.
Not only does it provide excellent internet performance when compared to standard extender mode and access point mode, but it’s pretty easy to do if both your extender and router support mesh mode.
That’s the key here: you need to make sure your router and extender support mesh mode before moving forward with any purchasing or configuration decisions.
Once you’ve confirmed that your router and extender support mesh mode, you need to make sure your extender is configured in standard extender mode.
If you’ve previously set up your extender in access point mode, you may want to perform a factory reset on the device and set it up in standard extender mode. This can save you a lot of time when configuring it for mesh mode (I learned this the hard way).
Once your extender is in extender mode, all you have to do is access your router’s settings and add the extender as a mesh node. This creates a mesh network between your router and extender, and you’ll be able to take advantage of all the benefits that mesh mode provides.
