Do your Microsoft Edge extensions silently stop when a tab goes into the background?
Music pauses, web apps refresh, dashboards disconnect, or automation tools stop after a few minutes — often after recent Edge updates. In this step-by-step checklist, you’ll fix it safely by adjusting Sleeping Tabs, Efficiency Mode, and (if needed) removing a forced policy.

✅ Step 1: Confirm Sleeping Tabs is the cause (leaf icon + tab reload)
✅ Step 2: Set “Put inactive tabs to sleep after” to hours or Never
✅ Step 3: Add critical sites to Never put these sites to sleep
✅ Step 4: Turn off Efficiency Mode (test)
✅ Step 5: Check edge://policy (is something forcing it?)
✅ Step 6 (Windows Pro/Enterprise): Disable Sleeping Tabs via Group Policy
✅ Step 7 (Windows Home): Remove forced policy via Registry (personal PCs only)
✅ Step 8: Fix extension settings (Allow in background + site access)
✅ Step 9: Update Microsoft Edge
✅ Step 10: If your PC is managed by work/school, contact IT (don’t bypass org policies)
