AutoCrop Effect: https://fcpxtemplates.com/autocrop/
The title basically spells it out. This is a great time-saver. Super simple to use with onscreen controls.
Generally, you need to crop an image to fit a space, right? With AutoCrop (for Final Cut*) all you do is outline the place on the screen and no matter how you set it, the image is centered within that space.
There are options to 1) automatically scale the image to fit the horizontal dimension and 2) automatically scale the image to fig the vertical dimension (mutually exclusive, vertical takes precedence if both options checked.)
There are controls to offset the Scale to override the automatic scaling and controls to pan the image if you need a different center.
There is an option to set a border (w/color) and round the corners of the cropped clips.
There is also some built in Sharpening control... just in case.
Build really sophisticated reveals quickly with stacked clips.
This effect automatically conforms to *any size* aspect ratio (dimension) of the clip it is applied to. If you need "project size", AutoCrop can be applied to an adjustment layer or use a compound clip.
A "Title Fixer" is included to suppress the automatic repeating of the text in a title. Use Title Fixer first before applying AutoCrop (or just drag and drop it up over AutoCrop if added afterwards.)
*There may be effects for After Effects and other apps called AutoCrop or Auto Crop, but generally, those work by cropping a subject to its bounding box (in other words, exactly the opposite function as this effect.) I guess it depends on how you look at it and I just didn't know what else to call it!
