Saying you "wasted your time" is a decision you made based on your lack of perspective in seeing how that time actually benefitted you. Every experience has something that can be gained from whether it's relaxing, doing someone a favor, or taking a risk and having it fail, all these things can be perceived as a "waste of time", or they can be seen a different way. Maybe the break to relax you took let you focus better after, and the learnings from your failed risk will help you improve next time. Nothing is a waste of time if you see the bigger picture of the benefits.
