How to Use Evernote Search More Effectively:
Feature 1. Search notes for a specific word in the title. To do this, type intitle:book. This will return all notes in Evernote that contain the word “book” in the title.
Feature 2. Search within a specific notebook. To do this, type: notebook:name of notebook, for example, "ideas". You can then add what exactly you are searching for. For example intitle: business. This will return all notes within the notebook “ideas” that have “business” in the title.
Feature 3. Search for a specific tag. To do this, type tag:followed by the tag you are searching for in Evernote, for example “books”. This will return all notes that are tagged with “books” in Evernote.
Top 3 Email Hacks for Evernote:
When emailing into Evernote, there are three simple hacks that you can use to increase efficiency:
1. Include a reminder date.
To do this, type !year/month/day into the subject line immediately following the subject, for example, 2015/07/23
2. Designate a notebook to send your note to.
To do this, use the @ symbol before typing the name of a notebook, for example, business ideas @
3. Add an existing tag to your note.
To do this, use the # symbol followed by an existing tag, e.g., b_ideas
Once in Evernote, click refresh, and your emailed note will appear with an enabled reminder, in its correct notebook, and with its correct tag.
How to create a stack in Evernote:
Step 1. When using the Evernote web application to create a stack, you must be in the notebook section. To open this section, click on the notebook icon.
Step 2. A stack is comprised of at least 2 notebooks. If you don’t have a second notebook, create one by clicking the “new notebook plus” icon. You will need to name the notebook, for example: Offline Ideas. Now, drag this notebook over top of the first notebook.
Notice that a green box appears around the notebook to let you know that you are about to create a stack.
Step 3. Now name the your stack, for example: Business Ideas and Concepts
Now, all your business ideas - online and offline - are stacked underneath the Business Ideas and Concepts master notebook.
How to change Evernote’s Assigned Email Address:
To change the address that is used when emailing into Evernote from a web client, for example, [email protected] , follow these 2 simple steps.
Step 1. Click on account, then settings.
Step 2. Under “account summary”, scroll down to “email notes to”. Click on the “reset” button.
For additional information, hover over the question mark and a pop-up will appear, explaining why and how to reset your email address.
How to Create a To-Do List or Checklist in Evernote in 5 Easy Steps:
Step 1: Open the Evernote web application
Step 2: Navigate to the left hand side of the screen. Click on the “New Note Icon” to create a new note.
Step 3: Hover over the bulleted list icon on the right hand side of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear. Navigate to the check-box icon and click on it. A check-box will automatically appear within your note.
Step 4: Title the note, and press enter on a PC (or return on a Mac). Describe your task (input create killer business plan. Impress investors. Press enter (or return on a mac) to automatically create a new check box. You can check each item off the To-Do list once it has been completed.
Step 5: When you are finished, select done to save changes to the Checklist.
