I sure do.
My dreams are vivid. Sleep is an adventure for me. I’m not a deep sleeper, and as a result, I often find myself in the strange place between awake and asleep.
I’m not talking about dreams of ambition or success (though those are pretty bright, too!). I’m talking about REM-sleep-brain-activity that only occurs between awake and asleep.
You could say I’m an oneironaut - a dream traveler. You’ve probably heard me bragging about the dream journals I’ve kept over the last 7 years when I’m introducing yet another song inspired by a dream I had.
Truth is, I’m pretty grateful for this mental tool.
When I revisit my dreams, I am sometimes fortunate enough to find the answer to life’s questions. Other times, I discover new depths of my imagination. Sometimes I’m lucid. Sometimes I’m out of control. Sometimes my dreams predict the future (see my song Little Shit for proof).
And since the fabric of my subconscious is composed mostly of my imagination, it’s no wonder so many of them wind up in the fabric of my music.
My dreams come true. Musically, at least.
