The difference between so and such is that so is an adverb that modifies an adjective or adverb, while such is a determiner that modifies a noun or a noun phrase. For example:
She is so happy. (so modifies the adjective happy)
He runs so fast. (so modifies the adverb fast)
It is such a beautiful day. (such modifies the noun phrase a beautiful day)
They are such good friends. (such modifies the noun friends)
Both so and such can be used to emphasize something, but they have different structures. We use so + adjective/adverb and such + noun/noun phrase. For example:
