Fixing leaking pipe under floor!
In today’s plumbing video I’ve been sent to a house that has been loosing pressure! The customer has gone round the house looking for leaks and actually managed to hear a noise coming from under the floor boards close to the radiators!
Under investigation after lifting the boards up I found some plastic pipes connecting between the radiator and pipework. Unfortunately it looks like some mice or rats have chewed the fittings completely until it caused them to leak and spray water under the floor!
I drained the system, cut out the plastic pipes and repiped the rad pipework completely from the feeds into the valves using 1 joint on each and bending the pipe into place. I’m amazed the rats etc target just the joints but it seems they like to naw them, now the pipes are copper they will not be attracted to them any more!
After connecting up the radiator pipes I added some inhibiter to the system to stop any corrosion in the system, got the heating on and tested for leaks! Using the thermal imaging camera I can see how the pipes are fed from the boiler and check circulation!
