Hello! I am sharing my process of converting a drawing to vector art in 7 Steps using adobe illustrator.

Step 1 : Import your drawing into Illustrator, just drag and drop your image into illustrator or go into File - Import and select the image of your drawing. Try to orient the drawing as you want the final piece to be.
(I take a picture with my phone, it doesn't really have to be in good quality, just something to guide you.)

Step 2 : Trace using pen tool, its pretty easy just follow the outlines of your drawing with the pen tool.

Step 3 : Fill in the details, here you should create the smaller details inside your drawing using the pen tool. It may seem a bit tedious but once you are done with it it's going to look great!

Step 4 : Make a Live paint group, for this just select all the outlines of your drawing and then while them selected go into the Object Tab - Make - Make A Live Paint Group. Make sure all the outlines touch each other to make a closed shape other wise it won't make a live paint group.
Just fill the color you want into the live group you just made using the live paint tool.

Step 5 : Profile the Details that you just created in step 3, to profile a stroke tab select the stroke you want to profile and select a suitable profile from the Stroke tab,
It gives the drawing a more organic feel and looks more hand drawn.
( Stroke tab can be found in the Window option on the top, Window - Stroke)

Step 6 : Make a Shadow, its really easy, just select the live paint group you made in step 4, make its copy and give it a darker color, then send it to the back and move it a little sideways and downward.

Step 7 : Background and Tweaks, here you can create a background that looks pleasing to your eye, I usually select a contrasting color for the background and make random shapes with light transparency.
Make any changes you feel like here.

Done!! Export your drawing and Share it with me! I'm @fxman.create at Instagram.
