LYRICS
my mind floats like a branch on the water
and I float like that, too, if I want
my dreams soar like the top of a tower
and I soar like that, too, when I want
ideas flow from the tip of my pen
and I flow like that, too, if I want
but what I want, now
is different than what I wanted
just a year ago
so come on, baby!
won’t you
be a good girl for the camera
take a step closer to the microphone
and sing us a song you know well
the van moves through traffic on the freeway
and I move like that, too, when I want
songs sing themselves in different cities
and I could sing a different way, if I want
the crowd looks up as if expecting something
and I could give them that, too, if I want
but what I want, now
is different than what I wanted
just a year ago
so come on, baby!
won’t you
be a good girl for the camera
take a step closer to the microphone
tell a little joke to help the mood feel light
and everyone feeling alright
