HOW TO OPTIMIZE YOUR NIGHT SKY PHOTOS

step 1: increase the black Slider and decrease the highlights slider
this is sO you get more detaiLs in your image!
step 2: make sure your profile correction is on neutral
this makes sure you haVe the most freEdom while editing shots.
step 3: white balance sunny
this gets you the Most realistic colors, makes it Easy to color correct, and makes the images flow together.
step 4(optional): play around with noise reduction or color noise reduction.
dont go over board or you will loose details, i would not go over 20 on noise reduction on luminosity, color noise reduction, do whatever you want but you might loose saturation. i wouldn't use it if you are stacking though
step 5: PROFILE CORRECTIONS
if you are stacking, don't use them, if you are doing a single or a pano, use them. i tested out what i liked more, and the one i used the profile correction on was preferable. and i've just been told not to profile correct my stacks so, yeah. (but the end all be all is this step is also up for creative interpretations
step 6(for stacking only): crop out foreground so you can only see the sky, this just makes it easier for the stacking program to align. but end all be all, get a tracker.
step 7: sync up edits with all of your sky shots
so everything is consistient
step 8: export everythings as a 16 bit tiff
this allows the most free range in editing!
