A young couple, Alexey (28) and Marina (25), were brought together by love. They began dating, and Marina became pregnant. Alexey proposed, but Marina's parents objected, as Alexey was still a struggling artist at the time, just beginning his artistic career (though he would later become a sought-after artist). The father, a high-ranking gynecologist, persuaded his daughter to abort the child to separate them. If she had no child, he would abandon her and not continue their relationship. He lied to the couple that the pregnancy was life-threatening, but managed to persuade her to do so. Unfortunately, nothing came of it; the couple eventually married, and eventually had a child.
