Beating my own personal best by exactly half a second. Still a lot of room for improvement, but I came back to play recently after taking a year some time off. Happy to know that I still got some moves.
I wanted to point out in this video how the landing drift boost saves up a lot of reserves. this moves allows you to get several times more reserves rather than conventional methods, and just like maintaining blue flame, maintaining for how long can you get additional boosts.
steps:
1. Drive up on a ramp
2. Jump from the ramp
3. LAND INTO A DRIFT - Super important
4. receive the boost from the jump (indicated by the slider on retro alternative/modern UI
5. continue drifting until you fall off the next ramp
6. RELEASE the drift key IN MIDAIR to abort the drift
7. PRESS the drift key again and land into another drift.
8. profit - you will receive the same jump boost from the step 4.
you can hear this boost happen with a special sound effect (like jumping of a ramp and landing with a boost, but in this case same sound is heard without jumping)
In this video I do it at ramp where I pick up blue fire, land into a drift on the hallway, continue drifting through the portal and then releasing and starting another drift while landing on the other side, then I chain that movement down on the shortcut, again for the main part AND again before the lasers. It's a very good way to stack up on reserves and I've made many mistakes in the 2nd lap, but still came out fast enough.
