Fall Asleep To The ENTIRE History of Novgorod Republic
The Novgorod Republic was a unique medieval East Slavic city-state, not a monarchy, but ruled by a powerful assembly called the veche and an oligarchy of wealthy boyar families.
It controlled vast territories from the Baltic to the Urals and prospered as a major trade hub, notably as the easternmost partner of the Hanseatic League, dealing in furs, wax, and honey. Its independence ended when it was absorbed by Muscovy in 1478.
